Update: I paired this with a tinted primer like product and it now goes on absolutely *perfect*. While my skin doesn’t like setting powders, I gave it a light dusting of Kat Von D setting powder (a sample I had from Sephora) and the foundation DIDNT settle in any creases or fine lines. Beautiful, flawless skin all day long! If the foundation pills up, try a different brand of primer or skin perfector like product. (For me, smash box didn’t work with this foundation though it could have been the awful cetaphil lotion). Also, make sure to blend and blend and blend. NYX sells a $12 “professional” foundation brush that goes with this foundation. I hope to try it soon. Flawless skin!

This truly doesn’t irritate my skin at all! AT ALL! Even under my eyes- it’s safe for me! No blemishes from it either. Bravo NYX! This is a huge step in the right direction for makeup companies! And we should support them! (So they don’t go back to crappy ingredients or adding in extra bad stuff...) My favorite thing is that it’s soooo gentle! This foundation would be good for an everyday “casual” foundation ie., work, stores/errands, without messing up your skin health. There are some cons though. It’s not the best one to wear for an important event if you must impress old friends. I would like a foundation that washes off easy so it doesn’t irritate my skin or clog pores (this foundation fits the bill) and looks nice and feels light on my skin. This is light to full coverage as its buildable (you can add additional layers to get a more coverage). I worried that initially it felt ‘oily’ on my skin, especially before it settled. I feared it would lead to awful breakouts. I held my breathe. Delightfully, it DOESN’T cause breakouts for me! *whew* It also is a perfect match to my skin shade. However, I feel this foundation is one of the only foundations that doesn’t look as nice on my skin (?) and it can settle into mouth creases. When I used a moisturizer and didn’t wait a full 30 mins, it looked like it would SLIDE off my face! (I now blot my face with an organic washcloth before applying if I’m in a hurry which who isn’t?). I think a light dusting of a setting powder would work amazing! but sadly, I can’t use setting powders (I’ve tried 4 now and broke out similarly with whiteheads and then pimples and I’m too afraid to try more, maybe it’s the talc?). I tried a primer for the first time ever to help it grip, and I’m not sure it paired well with this foundation. It suddenly looked like mini flakey caking. Though I have no idea if that’s what I’m suppose to use or what I’m doing. (I don’t like idea of needing an extra product to wear makeup as I prefer to keep minimal products on my skin to avoid the risk of irritation and/or breakouts from extra ingredients and allergenic preservatives).
Hang tight. We're thinking.
