Acute Dermatitis is when the skin becomes inflamed and irritated, but unlike a chronic skin rash it usually will resolve itself in a relatively short amount of time. Contact Dermatitis is typically an atopic form of skin irritation unless the contact with the allergen persists.

Symptoms

  • Red, irritated and rashy skin
  • Itchy skin
  • Blisters

Causes

Acute Dermatitis is typically caused by an allergen, whether it be airborne or one that you come directly into contact with. The following is a list of common irritants to the skin:

  • Cosmetics
  • Rubbing alcohols
  • Plants
  • Airborne allergens like saw dust
  • Nickel
  • Tattoos
  • Medications

Risk Factors

Those who are most at risk for developing Acute Dermatitis symptoms are individuals who suffer from allergies to everyday objects, as they are more likely to come into contact with their allergen.

Treatment

The treatment of allergy induced skin rashes requires a proper skin care routine consisting of medicated or sensitive skin lotions and washing with mild soaps. Another way to ease the discomfort caused by Acute Dermatitis is by limiting the amount of time spent in the shower, and by using cooler temperature water.
